TRM vs Fittes vs Aria Vent: An Honest Steel Register Comparison
First, the name change
If you searched for Aria Vent, you found the right page. Aria Vent rebranded to Fittes, so Aria Vent and Fittes are the same company and the same products. TRM Metal Products is a separate Canadian manufacturer. We build steel air registers in Mississauga, Ontario, and this page compares our products to theirs as honestly as we can.
The short version
Fittes makes a good product. If you are building new or doing a full renovation, want a paint-in drywall look, and your sizes are standard, they are a reasonable choice. Where TRM wins is retrofit installation into existing floors, all-steel construction at every price point, a much wider size range, and custom sizes that Fittes simply does not make.

Fittes prices are from fittes.com in US dollars and may change. One structural difference matters more than any single number: the Fittes entry models (Lite) are ABS plastic. Every TRM vent is powder coated steel, including our least expensive one. Our floor vents are load rated for foot traffic without a plastic option in the lineup.
Installation: the biggest practical difference
The Fittes Flush models must be mounted before your flooring goes in. Fittes says so on their own product pages. That makes them a new-construction and full-renovation product. If your floor is already finished, your Fittes options narrow to the Framed line.
TRM Classic and Breeze vents are drop-in. They replace an existing vent cover in a finished floor in about a minute, no tools, no glue, no flooring work. Our Undermount line gives a fully flush look for new floors, so both installation situations are covered.
Size range
The Fittes Flush Floor Vent runs from 2.25x10 to 6x10. TRM stocks floor vents from 2x10 up to 6x30 and larger, wall and ceiling registers up to 20x30, and builds any size to order, including odd ducts like 3x72 or 16x40. If your opening is not standard, a made-to-order steel vent from our custom size program costs less than reworking your ductwork to fit someone else's catalog.
Airflow, with real numbers
Fittes advertises that its Plus models move 50 percent more air than its standard single-channel design. We publish the actual free area of every TRM vent in square inches on each product page, measured from CAD, so you can check the math against your duct size instead of trusting a percentage with no baseline. If a vent restricts your system, it does not matter how good it looks.
Where Fittes is genuinely better
Honesty cuts both ways. Fittes offers a paint-in drywall receptacle line we do not make, ships from US warehouses which can be faster for some US addresses, and their plastic Lite line is lighter and cheaper than steel if steel does not matter to you. Their 365-day return window is longer than ours.
Where TRM is better
All steel at every price. Drop-in retrofit for finished floors. Sizes to 30 inches and beyond, plus true custom sizes. Published free-area specs.
