Performance Data Terms

These terms apply to all airflow performance data published on TRM Metal Products product pages.

Notes and Conditions

  1. Performance values are engineering calculations and estimates and are not yet laboratory certified. Certified ratings tested to ASHRAE 70-2006 and ADC 1062 will supersede this data once testing is complete.
  2. Airflow (CFM) is derived by continuity from the rated net free area at standard air density of 0.075 lb per cubic foot under isothermal conditions.
  3. The net free area shown is a conservative figure — the perimeter opening, or the rated open area where the product page states one. Actual open area is equal to or greater, so delivered airflow meets or exceeds the listed values.
  4. Static pressure is a conservative calculated estimate referenced to the free-area velocity, and may carry an added margin for entry losses, turning losses and, where a damper is fitted, the open damper blades. Tested values are expected to be lower.
  5. Throw values are estimates scaled to each product and are pending TRM ASHRAE 70 certification.
  6. Unless the product page states otherwise, all performance is rated with the damper fully open. Closing the damper reduces airflow. Some products have no damper; where that is the case the product page says so.
  7. Performance assumes the decorative insert and flooring are installed as designed. Obstructing the opening reduces airflow below the listed values.
  8. Sound rating data is pending laboratory test.
  9. Dimensions are nominal and subject to manufacturing tolerance. Consult TRM Metal Products for applications beyond the conditions shown.
