When a custom vent is the right answer
Most of our custom orders come from a handful of situations. Older homes with duct openings that predate standard sizing. Renovations where new flooring changed the opening. Oversized cold air returns that no big box store carries. Long, narrow openings like a 3x72 toe kick run. Metric-sized ducts from imported HVAC equipment. And openings that land beside a joist, where our offset designs solve what a stock vent cannot.
Reworking ductwork to fit someone else's catalog is expensive. A made-to-order steel vent that fits your opening exactly is usually the cheaper fix, and it looks like it belongs there.
What we can build
Every line we manufacture is available in custom dimensions. That includes our Classic flush drop-in floor registers, the seamless laser welded Breeze and ON models, undermount registers for new floors, two-part wall vents and return air grilles, and flat ceiling vents. All steel, powder coated in black, white, grey or silver, and paintable to match anything.
We publish the free area of our vents in square inches, so if airflow matters for your system we can size the grille pattern to your duct instead of guessing.
How ordering works
1. Measure your duct opening. Measure the hole in the floor or wall, not the old cover. Width and length in inches, to the nearest eighth.
2. Send us the details or order directly. Use the custom size vent product to place your order, or contact us first if you want to confirm fit, airflow or finish. Send a photo of the opening if you are unsure, we'll tell you exactly what to order.
3. We fabricate and ship. Custom vents are laser cut, formed and powder coated in 3 to 4 weeks, then shipped to your door. US orders ship duty paid, the price you see is the price you pay.
Pricing
Custom vents start around $50 and price by size, model and finish. Small odd-size floor registers land close to our catalog pricing. Large format returns and long runs are quoted individually. There is no minimum order, one vent is a normal order for us, and contractors and builders can ask about multi-unit pricing.
Common questions
Can you match my floor? Yes. Our floor matching designs accept your flooring material in the vent face, or we powder coat and you can paint to match.
What sizes are possible? From small 2x10 openings up to large format returns and long custom runs. If it fits on our laser table, we can make it. Ask if you're unsure.
Is there really no standard vent for my opening? Maybe there is. We stock hundreds of sizes, check the catalog first or send us your measurement and we'll point you to a stock size if one exists. Stock is faster and cheaper, we'd rather sell you the right vent.
